Damn, it’s hot and sticky at the moment in Germany. The hottest day in weather recording in this country was yesterday (40,3 celsius). Yes, I hear you Australians smirk, but, damn, like Bill Hicks I am not made for this kind of weather. I am not a fucking lizard and I like wearing leather jackets.
Plenty of work to wrap up as we’re off to our summer holiday to Italy on Wednesday. Vincents first trip abroad and our first holiday as a threesome. Very excited and looking forward to some family time – and hopefully plenty of chances for good photography.
Speaking of which… here is another picture taken in Munich and another picture kept simple. Who knows where it is?
As for running…. I did run the Munich City Run – or at least I tried. For 2,5 km. The toe held up nicely but then I just felt my calves hardening up and running turned painful quickly. Lack of training just backfired on me. Ok and maybe the few beers too much at the Einstürzende Neubauten concert the night before didn’t help. I can be a stubborn ox, but this time I just realized very quickly that continuing to run could cause more damage than my hurt pride would. I dropped out of the race after 2,5 km and hobbled home through the English garden. I will return next year for the full halfmarathon – Better prepared.

Well, it hasn’t decreased my resolve for Great North Run. 10 weeks to go. Have started my proper trainings plan.I reverted to a 4 runs per week training plan, also a a day of strength training, a day of cross fit (cycling or swimming) and arrest day. Original I was planning to train according to the FIRST in which one does only three training runs per week albeit very tough and exhausting ones. I quickly noticed that it takes the joy out of running for me. I don’t want to do timed interval or speed runs all the time. I know some are necessary to improve, but I do enjoy just crunching the miles at steady pace. Let’s see who that works for me.
