2015 has rolled in and January is nearly over. I have had a quiet month making plans for the year ahead and working on a few personal projects, a shot for a friends short movie and my new showreel, which I will be releasing shortly. I was hit by a hideous cold the last two weeks which is always a crap way to start the new year. At least it has given me the time to plough through the thousands of unedited photos of the past few years and sort my albums for the homepage. I have added an USA, Ireland and Italy album in the photos section and have been reworking the photo titles and keywords. It is an ongoing process, but there are a lot of new photos out there for you to enjoy. I hope you like them and am happy to hear feedback from you. I will open the online shop shortly if you are interested in acquiring prints.
I have started three fxphd courses on Nuke (NUK227: Python for Nuke & Gizmology, NUK306: Production Nuke Finishing, NUK309: Advanced Nuke & Digital Environments) and have restarted my resolution to learn and master Python. I have been quite disciplined so far. learning small doses everyday. My experience at Mackevision has taught me how nice it is to be able to write your own little scripts and helpers for Nuke to help your day-to-day compositing duties. Since I have no programming background whatsoever (ok I did dabble a bit in BASIC when I was 9 or 10 😛 ) it is a bit of a learning curve, but I am getting there. I have found that learning the same bit of information from different sources helps me to deepen my understanding. Or maybe I just need to be told things about three times until I get them.
The cold has stopped my current running endeavors for the time being, but I did run the first race of year ant the beginning of the month. It was part of the Munich winter series -which I have joined for the second year running- a 15k race. I came in at 1:15.18 which is 3 minutes faster than last year – a result I am very happy about. I have planned out the running year and hope to take part in a few half marathons if health and time allows.
Got some work for a German TV movie coming up in February and on a private note probably the most exciting time of my life with the arrival of our firstborn, so bring on February.
